Clogged Disposal

So, my fantastic sister in law (Mandy...Scott's wife) was cooking at our house and she made some yummy mashed potatoes. Can you guess what she did? Yep....she put all the peels down the drain and can you guess what happened next. I bet you can.... The disposal would turn around and around but as soon as we turned the disposal off the water would come flooding back into the sink. It was a couple days before we could figure out how to fix it. I called my friend Nattalie (her hubby is a plumber) and he said to take apart the pipes under the sink and see if the peels were caught in the pipe. So we took his advice but since we are not plumbers we didn't know what to expect. We had a tiny towel.....yep....another stupid thing!! As soon as he unhooked the pipes.....Ahhhhhhhhhhh water started flooding onto the cupboard and the floor. Keep in mind we just got wood floors put in. They were brand new and we are all ready breaking them in by flooding the kitchen. We quickly started throwing towels everywhere!!! We finally got it cleaned up and we still couldn't fix the problem. So at a later date we became more prepaired and put a very Large bucket under the pipes and began to take them apart somemore. This time we fixed the problem. YUCK!! I dry heaved as the dirty, stinky water flooded into the bucket and Jay made me wash out the pipes that had mold infested potato peels stuck in them. Mandy felt really bad. Of course we won't stop teasing her!! That's what family is for! Later I will put a picture on the blog of my new floors. Technically, they aren't finished yet. They forgot to do a spot. Jason was home and didn't notice. I guess you can't expect a man to review a job before he pays them the final check. Some advice....always have the wife check it out before you give the company the rest of the money. Haha!!! I keep teasing my hubby about it. When I get a chance I will post a picture.

Opening Season for Sports!!!

Wow! It was a crazy day on April 7th! Kaleb's game was from 9:00-10:00 am. Tristan's game was from 2:30-3:30 then Alex had to be to her pregame practice at 3:45 then her game started at 4:30 and lasted till about 6:00. It was so great! We all had so much fun cheering everyone on. Kaleb was so excited to finally be on a team and not be the water boy. He put his jersey on in the morning and he didn't want to take his outfit off. He told me he was going to sleep in it. He was so dirty. He tried to slide to third and homebase (because he watches his sister in her games). We almost missed Tristan's first game. We thought we knew where we were going, but we are stupid parents. We get to the wrong park at 2:10. We walked all over looking for his team. Finally at 2:28 we got ahold of Jay's mom and she checked the schedule for us and told us what park we were suppose to really be at. We ran up this hill (the size of the Appalachins) and jumped into the car. We drove like 60-65 miles an hour to try and get to the correct park. (I know we are horrible parents to be driving that fast when we were not on the freeway...but the sad look on Tristan's face (he thought he was going to miss his first game) was enough to punch us both in the face.) We felt so stupid when we pulled up to the park and we jumped out and ran to the already started game. I practically threw him onto the feild and then apoligized to all the parents and the coach. I'm sure they all think we are airheads! Anyway, Alex's game was awesome. Her team is doing so much better than last season. They only won one game last season, so for them to win their first game was amazing!!! All of us parents are yelling and screaming on the bleachers. I can't believe how exciting a girls softball game can be. We absolutely love seeing our children play sports. I know I complain about how busy we are but it is soooo worth it when we watch them try so hard!!!
